Wasatch Classic 13

here is my 1962 bug...

For you few folks that have come to my blog for a long time know that I have a vintage VW obsession. I have posted pictures of my cars at car shows, and this weekend was our annual air-cooled car show. I started working on a '62 bug a few years back, but just as I started the restoration, I lost my job at Disney...so the bug had to wait. I jumped back into it this spring and "finished" it enough to go to the show this year. I hadn't worked all the bugs out of it yet, so it was with some apprehension that I drove almost all the way to springville for the show. I was on University Ave, going about 35 when the unthinkable happened....my drivers-side rear wheele fell off!! Sparks flew and my heart skipped a few beats, but I skidded to a stop on the side of the road and some fellow vw guys stopped to help me out...I was able to jack the car up, track down my tire and all the lugs and put the tire back on...and limp the rest of the way to the show. The weather was great, the cars were cool and other than my little mishap, a very good day. Here are some pics.

Sounds like a comedy film! Glad you didn't wreck all your hard work, and I am surprised you found all the lugs!

Hilarious! My college roommate once drove from Pocatello to Logan with the lug nuts only part way on. He was lucky to make it all that way, but wow he was mad. The dealer hadn't fastened them on all the way, the threads were shot and so was the axle.

Well, speed bump aside, it seems like the day was great for a car show. Keep on working on that VW of yours dude. It looks pretty spiffy, and with time and effort, it'll be up and running, bug-free.
